One of her cherished pieces is a majestic eagle with outspread wings, painted for her son, Mike Pretorius, a trauma surgeon who battled MS. This painting carries deep emotional significance, and Jane holds it close to her heart.

Jane Pretorius, a talented artist hailing from Outeniquastrand, is set to showcase her beautiful artwork at the enchanting Droombos Art-in-the-Bush. #KunsInniBos

Join us on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Droombos, nestled between Groot- and Kleinbrak River, where Jane will be among dozens of painters, writers, and poets.

Jane, originally born in England, embarked on her artistic journey a bit later in life, at the age of sixty.

As a toddler, she won her first art competition. However, shortly thereafter, a teacher scolded her and her brother for accidentally spilling paint on the floor while they were painting. This incident had a profound impact, causing her to abstain from painting until her sixtieth birthday.

Fast forward to today, and Jane’s art has blossomed, primarily through oil on canvas. She also dabbles in acrylic and charcoal sketches, but her heart truly belongs to wildlife, especially the Big Five.

Jane is eagerly looking forward to connecting with fellow art enthusiasts at Droombos’ Art-in-the-Bush. Her husband has been in the framing business for years and will also be part of this artistic journey.   They can be contacted via whatsapp at +27721762426.

According to Leone du Buisson, co-owner of Droombos, the event promises a day filled with art, literature, delightful food, wine, cheese, music, and great company at this special location.

“Droombos creates a sense of togetherness, and we’ll have something sizzling on the grill, along with great wine and delicious cheese at our wine and cheese tasting.”

Art-in-the-Bush runs from 10:00 to 15:00, and the best part? Entry is absolutely free! You can also explore Droombos’ farm market, brimming with fresh produce and treats, open every Saturday from 08:00.
